Mortadella Head, located in Davis Square, makes thick-crust Roman pizza that diverges sharply from both thin-crust and Chicago deep-dish styles. The signature Roman features ricotta cheese, eggplant, artichoke, and a substantial, risen dough base—what one customer described as "a smack in the mouth of seasonings." The pizza slices are generously sized, and the restaurant also serves Italian-American sandwiches. Beyond the Somerville location, Mortadella Head operates a second shop in Wellesley and ships handmade items nationwide.
