American Flatbread operates out of a 25-acre farmstead at Lareau Farm in Waitsfield's Mad River valley, where founder George Schenk has been making wood-fired flatbreads since 1985. The operation grew from its original backyard beginnings and a single night weekly at Tucker Hill lodge into a full restaurant that settled at this permanent location in 1991. The property extends beyond the pizzeria itselfβit includes a bed and breakfast, event space, gardens, walking trails, and art galleries housed in the Big Red Barn (seasonal). The restaurant is open Thursday through Sunday evenings.
